Transforming Rogier Metro Station:
Lines 2 and 6
Location: Metro station Rogier, 1000 Brussels Belgium
Client/Partner: MIVB
Public art has the unique power to completely transform the daily urban experience, turning grey and anonymous transit spaces into vibrant galleries.
As part of a major initiative by the Brussels public transport company STIB-MIVB and Brussels Mobility to breathe new life into the underground network, I had the opportunity to create a comprehensive series of murals and a ceiling painting in the Rogier metro station.
My intervention is located at the platforms and entrances for lines 2 and 6 (towards Simonis and Elisabeth). The artwork spans an expansive area, flowing seamlessly from the ticket entrance all the way down the stairwell, along the elevator shaft, and continuing overhead into a striking ceiling painting.
“Initiatives like this project by the MIVB prove that art does not only belong in museums. By injecting color and creativity directly into the transit system, underground spaces are humanized, offering travelers a moment of visual pause, surprise, and connection in their daily commute.”
